It starts by easily inserting a very small sensor comfortably under your skin where it continuously measures your glucose levels in the interstitial fluid of your cells. Attached to the sensor is the MiniLink™ REAL-Time Transmitter. This ultra small and discreet transmitter wirelessly transmits your glucose levels to the Guardian® REAL-Time System, 288 times per day.
Every five minutes, you get a REAL-Time update of how your blood glucose is behaving. If the readings are higher or lower than your pre-set glucose thresholds alarm will sound to alert you. Thanks to REAL-Time continuous glucose monitoring, you see every change as it happens in REAL-Time, for an added level of security you can’t get from fingersticks alone.
To help you see the whole picture, the Guardian® REAL-Time System also comes with CareLink® Therapy Management software. This easy, practical tool helps you chart your blood glucose fluctuations, so you and your healthcare professional can track trends and look for other information that will lead to greater control of your diabetes.

Protect yourself from oncoming highs and lows by using all or just one of these alerts*:
- Predictive Alerts can be set to warn you 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, or 30 minutes before glucose limits have been reached.
- Rate of Change Alerts let you know when your glucose levels are changing, and how fast.
- Low and High Alerts can be set at 8 different thresholds for different times throughout the day and night, to warn you when the glucose level crosses the low or high limit you have set.
