|
| Q: |
Can I use my system while on an airplane? |
| |
|
| A: |
No. The MiniLink™ Transmitter should be disconnected from the glucose sensor and the monitor turned off while traveling on an airplane. |
| |
|
| Q: |
Will my system be damaged when I go through airport security? |
| |
|
| A: |
No. The monitor and the MiniLink™ Transmitter are designed to withstand electromagnetic interference from airport security systems. |
| |
|
| Q: |
How close do the monitor and MiniLink™ Transmitter have to be? |
| |
|
| A: |
The wireless range between the two components is 6 feet (2 meters). |
| |
|
| Q: |
Will there be any interference between my system and other electrical devices? |
| |
|
| A: |
Possibly. If your system causes interference with radio or television reception, you can reorient or relocate the monitor or MiniLink™ Transmitter, or move yourself and your system farther away from the radio or television.
Other wireless devices like cell phones, cordless phones, and wireless computer networks may interrupt communication between the MiniLink™ Transmitter and monitor. This will not cause incorrect data to be sent and will not cause harm to your system. Moving away from or turning off these other devices may allow communication. You may also get a LOST SENSOR alert. |
| |
|
| Q: |
What can I do to help the MiniLink™ Transmitter stay in place? |
| |
|
| A: |
The MiniLink™ Transmitter is designed to stay in place close to your skin when connected to the glucose sensor. You may also choose to put a tape or transparent dressing over the MiniLink™ Transmitter and glucose sensor. Contact the 24-Hour Helpline at 1-866-444-4649 for instructions and tape tips. |
| |
|
| Q: |
What if I get alerts too frequently? |
| |
|
| A: |
If you are getting alerts too frequently, it means that your high and low limit alerts are set too close together. You will likely get an alert every time you eat! Tell your healthcare professional about the alerts, and ask them to review your settings. |

| Q: |
What does standard deviation mean? |
| |
|
| A: |
Standard deviation (SG Std Dev) is a statistical measure of how spread out the values in a data set are.
For example, the SG Std Dev feature tells you the variability of your SG measurements. If your SG measurements are all close to the average of all your measures, then the standard deviation will be close to 0. If all of your SG measurements are the same, then the standard deviation is 0. However, if many of your SG measurements are far from the average, in other words, many low glucose values and many high glucose values, then the standard deviation will be far from 0.
Generally, a small standard deviation is preferred. |

| Q: |
I’m a sound sleeper, will the alert wake me up while I sleep? |
| |
|
| A: |
If you’re a sound sleeper, we encourage you to use both the vibrate and audible alert mode. |
| |
|
| Q: |
Can I silence my glucose alerts? |
| |
|
| A: |
Yes. The alarm silence feature allows you to make glucose alerts silent, so that they will not beep or vibrate for a pre-set amount of time. For example… when you are in a business meeting or watching a movie in a theater.
The amount of time you can make glucose alerts silent is:
Minimum: 30 minutes Maximum: 24 hours |

| Q: |
Can I use my Guardian REAL-Time System during an X-ray, CT scan, or MRI? |
| |
|
| A: |
No. If you are going to have an X-ray, CT scan, MRI or other type of exposure to radiation, take off your monitor, transmitter and glucose sensors, and remove them from the area. |
| |
|
| Q: |
Is the radio frequency from my transmitter harmful to me in any way? I’m concerned it might be. |
| |
|
| A: |
Our transmitter uses about 1,000 times less radio frequency (RF) power than a cell phone uses. If you think about it, when you’re talking on your cell phone, you’re receiving a constant stream of RF transmission. In contrast, our transmitter sends very small transmission “bursts.” So, you don’t need to worry about the RF from our transmitter harming you. |
